And just like that, it’s August! Hard to believe we’re eight months into 2025, but when the days pass in a flurry of experiences and excitement, you begin to understand how easily time can fly. This summer at the agency has been busy and fruitful. Our team have been embarking on everything from set visits to massive projects to online courses to in-person industry events. It’s been non-stop. In the best way! After 3+ months of filming, the upcoming Hollywood film to which we signed fantastic Talent wrapped shooting. The project is now headed to post production and while we can’t give too much away just yet, let’s just say, “Our Actors are so talented, it’s spooky.”
Meanwhile, off set and back at the agency, we continued to pride ourselves in keeping up-to-date with the latest in entertainment and casting practices. As a small team with big ambitions, not a day goes by where we don’t explore valuable ways to grow and develop. In that vein, our agents recently attended the insightful and interactive, Casting for Diversity Excellence workshop, hosted by Screen Ireland in partnership with Adaku Oliver-Nnona from Phoenix Rize Consulting. This workshop examined the biases and barriers that still pervade the film industry to discuss the ways in which industry professionals can empower and support members of underrepresented sectors to step confidently into the performance space.
Mere days later, Casting Ireland had the absolute pleasure of attending the Casting Masterclass at the Galway Film Fleadh. Led by three of Ireland’s most influential casting directors, Maureen Hughes, Louise Kiely, and Luci Lennox, the session was engaging, inspiring, and refreshingly interactive. They shared insights on how to create the perfect cast for your project and opened the floor to questions. Collectively, these accomplished women bring decades of insight, instinct, and passion to the specialised craft of casting. Their shared wisdom offered invaluable perspectives into the evolving landscape of Irish film and television, touching on everything from audition techniques and actor preparation to the profound importance of casting in storytelling. It wasn’t a lecture, it was a conversation. One that left everyone in the room feeling inspired, seen, and motivated.
A personal highlight was getting the chance to meet some of the wonderful talent we regularly connect with via email, phone, and online. Putting faces to names and swapping stories in person added such a meaningful layer to the experience. Whenever we have time away from scheduling and coordinating, there’s nothing we enjoy more than connecting with our Talent. So, if you stopped by to say “hello” at the festival – thank you! The atmosphere in Galway only added to the magic. It was a beautiful summer’s day, and the city was alive with the creative energy of filmmakers, actors, writers, and cinephiles. All coming together to celebrate Irish storytelling. There’s something truly special about Fleadh. There is a sense of community and shared purpose that’s hard to describe unless you’ve experienced it firsthand. I left the masterclass not only more informed, but also feeling energised about the future of casting in Ireland.
